I'm the guest slot each day this week* with Radio 3's Essential Classics with the excellent @drsarahwalker - Sarah Walker - talking about assorted pieces of music with special meaning.
Pieces that deserve to be better known ? - William Bolcom's wonderful Cabaret Songs (think Weill/Britten/Auden/Walton. Stir in a bit of Schoenberg)
Recording recently bought? Anna Tilbrook's and James Gilchrist's Wintereisse.
Piece I'd like to conduct? Verdi requiem. Obviously.
Performers I'd have liked to have heard playing live: the Busch quartet.
And so on.
* Thanks to marvellous new technology - tape - this doesn't require me to be in the studio each day. All done in one session about two weeks ago
